A friend sent me a link to David Armand performing his act with Natalie Imbrulia. I saw a video of him doing the act about a year ago just on a low budget stage with a black curtain, and seeing how his act progressed made me wonder if he would have gotten there without the internet...

TIME magazine's person of the year for 2006 was...YOU. Motivated by the whole youtube movement, i think it still is a great concept. It's deep. I like the movement from idolizing 1 person we've never met, making us wish we were like them. This is motivating!

Then I was thinking about the star wars kid. If it wasn't for the internet, this could would have had some razing in highschool for a bit, and then been able to walk away when he went to college and moved on. Now that his likeness has appeared in video games like Tony Hawk and satired in Weird Al's white & nerdy video. This 1 kid, one day thought he was just going to have fun and no one would know, and now the world knows. The effing world.

There a a bunch of people like this, people that actually are getting fame and fortune from some little story or video or picture, what would have been looked at and forgotten 10 years ago, now will live on for the rest of the internet's life. This is truly the information age. The egotist in me envisions walking around some place away from home and someone recognizing me as sixf00t4, the forum member, the dragon game guy, the guy who did something on the internet that was posted without his knowledge. That makes me think about the celebrity sex tapes and such now, once it's out there, it's out there. You will always be remembered as the the tron guy, whether you like the attention, or not.
